Interpreting the difference between silk screen and pad printing

First, detailed explanation of silk screen

Screen printing process is the ink leaked on the substrate after part of the screen through the screen, the rest of the screen is blocked, the ink can not pass through. This part is even more blank on the substrate. When the printing ink is poured on the screen, the ink will not leak through the screen to the substrate without external force. When the squeegee sways the ink with a certain pressure and inclination angle, the ink is transferred through the screen. Go to the following substrate to achieve image reproduction.

Silk screen has the following characteristics:

1. Wide range of substrates: Since the printing plate is made of wire mesh, it is soft and flexible, so the substrate can be printed regardless of whether it is flat or curved, hard or soft, large or small. In addition, silk screens can be printed on fragile and deformable substrates due to low pressure.

2, thick ink layer and strong hiding power: thick silk screen printing ink, is unmatched by other printing methods. For example, if the underlying color is covered with white, ordinary printing methods are required to print 3 to 4 times on the same site, and the silk screen can be completed only once. The thickness of the silk ink layer is generally 20 micrometers, special thick film printing up to 100 micrometers, the thinnest also 6 micrometers. Therefore, the silk printing ink is thick and has a wide adjustable range.

3, a strong sense of three-dimensional: Due to the thick ink layer, so in the imitation of print and copy the effect of the painting is very realistic, its color greatly exceeds offset. However, in the fine pattern printing, the effect of copying is limited.

4. Good light fastness: After lightfast pigments and fluorescent pigments are incorporated in the ink, the print pattern can maintain its luster permanently and is not affected by temperature and sunlight, and it can even glow at night. Therefore, silk screen products are suitable for outdoor advertising, signage, etc.

5. Applicable inks are quite extensive: There are water bases, oil bases, solvent bases, etc., and even pastes, pastes, and powders may be used. Therefore, silk screen printing ink is collectively called printing material.

6, large format: In the printing area, the general offset, embossing and other methods due to the limitations of the mechanical equipment is far less than the silk screen. The maximum size of screen printing reaches 3M*4M or even greater.

7, the printing plate has greater flexibility: the characteristics of the screen material determines the printing plate will have greater flexibility. When used for large-volume printing, the easily stretched plate affects the effect of copying.

Second, printing detailed

Pad printing is mainly accomplished through the transfer process of the plastic head, which is limited by the performance and shape of the plastic head during the solid printing process.

The rubber head has the following features:

(1) flexible;

(2) has an arc;

(3) It cannot be infinitely large;

In principle, it can be said that: As long as the plastic deformation can reach the place can be printed. Therefore, the application of pad printing is very wide. Basically the electrical and daily products we see in life, the characters above, are the masterpieces of pad printers! However, the print range of the pad printing is determined from the features of the plastic head to have a rough outline, and a large area pattern cannot be printed. Under normal circumstances, printing patterns within 80X170MM, can also be modified through the machine to create special fixtures, get a larger printing area. The cost of consumables that comes with it will increase, but it is very suitable for the printing of a certain size of graphics and text on irregularly shaped and uneven workpieces, which cannot be achieved by ordinary printing.

Pad printing has the following characteristics:

1, in line with the appearance of the appearance of the printed product, the requirements of good quality, so that the printing is more luxurious. The field of application has developed so rapidly that we are faced with more and more printing products every day. For example: cars: switches, buttons, joysticks, etc.; electronics: electronic components, product enclosures, sockets, relays, tapes, CD-ROM, etc.; daily necessities: decorations, watches, ovens, labels, etc.; toys, stationery, light boxes advertising.

2, printing is a direct printing, in the use of a special pad printing machine to print the ink on the plane gravure printed on the ink, and then transferred by the printing ink head graphics on the substrate.

3, has many advantages of silk screen, such as the wide adaptability of substrates, low cost, you can use the vast majority of screen printing ink. However, pad printing is mostly used for graphic and text printing on facets and bumps. The printing is flexible and easy to color.

4. Pad printing is an excellent match for screen printing. So far, no one application has reached such a wide range of applications that it can print so many flat surfaces such as flat, spherical, curved, angled or recessed, and there are no printing processes. Multi-color wet-wet printing on objects without the need for inter-color drying.

In summary:

Silk printable surface or surface with large surface area and flat surface

Pad printing allows printing of small, multi-coloured overprint products with no requirement for product shape
